The stylish oil painting of Väino Paris in the style of the 1960s probably depicts a scene where a new spire is being put on the tower of the St. Nicholas Church during the renovation. According to the annals, said event took place in 1970, probably then the artist used either eye memory or a photograph for his painting completed in 1972. The event must have left a strong psychological mark on the people. It took so long to recover from the Tallinn March bombing during World War II. If you try to imagine the location of the artist in old town based on the painting, then he probably stood on the stairs of Lühikese Jala to watch what was happening with the Tower. The color of the painting is exceptionally optimistic and bright, something will be alright again, the abnormality in between will be left behind.
