Cyclamen were almost the only flowers in the Soviet period that were sold in winter either as potted or cut flowers. So, winter birthday children knew in advance what would be given to them. The cyclamen pot here is painted in a very bright colouring, as if someone had a birthday. The artist takes a higher point of view, the brushstroke almost resembles an impressionistic style of painting. Eduard Einmann went along with the official art doctrine of the state in his oeuvre of the 1950s. Thus, his main question in the freer atmosphere of the 1960s may have been the following: how to get out of the earlier narrow frames of art?
