“Tüdruk” by one of the celebrities of the Estonian graphical art, Märt Laarman, belongs to his creation of the 1950ies. Here he uses lino-cut as woodcut, giving by this manner the work a generalized and harsh look. Laarman’s girl is unexpectedly serious, resembling some female poetic types in the Estonian literature. We can subtly also detect Laarman’s past play with forms. Also here the artist remarkably stylizes the motif, being enchanted by vertical forms.
