The painting with spring tulips and willow buds turning towards the light on Earth conveys a simple and pretentious mood of the moment. As is typical of Peeter Mudist, the treatment of colour is soft and warm. However, if an artist of this level paints flowers, then what does he actually paint? It is to be expected that it is not the empirical appearance of the flowers or their physical materiality, but the mental state that arises when viewing them, or the tacit message of the flowers – to always turn oneself towards the light. In simplicity there is size. A good artist will help to notice this.
