Sirje-Maris Horma participated quite actively in exhibitions in the late 1960s and 1970s, but, like many other female artists, she was unable to rise to the attention of the Estonian art world. Her still-life paintings, with their very strong colours and unusual colour compositions, are experimental, especially in the context of the early 1960s, when artists were still expected to paint with a relatively realistic hand. On the one hand, we see a slightly bourgeois interior with a pocket mirror and a bouquet of flowers, but their treatment with very strong colours makes the mood of the painting more sudden and passionate.
