Lydia Mei lived in Pääsküla and that is probably where this painting was painted. As a master watercolourist, Mei has succeeded in conveying a landscape overlaid with a white blanket of snow from which a few specific coloured objects emerge. Houses hidden behind trees, Mei is primarily interested in the view of nature and moods. Typical of the 1950s, this intimate view is also meant to be a personal experience, rather than a way to score points at art exhibitions.
