The dash of Paul Burman is legenday: his restless character never allowed him to stay for a long period at one motif, he continuously continued jumping to a new work. Also his manner of painting is similar, as it seems in the present work: quick, spontaneous, covering with one layer only, airy and so always in the mood of spring. Also of interest is Burman’s choice of motifs: usually the old town has inspired detailed and rigid works. While depicting the city, Burman tries to implement his view of the world and manner of painting and does it successfully: buildings become brisky spots of colours, a postcard becomes a painting.
