The Jõgever of the 1960ies is an important landmark in the Estonian art. It was the period she was at her peak of her fame, but not officially. She used to do much experimenting with her Tartu friends, but even of greater importance is Jõgever’s aesthetic standpoint. In case of “Baleriinid” we are of course not dealing with an experiment, but it still renders a certain standpoint. Ballerinas are for Jõgever the symbols of “pure” art, beautiful and fragile. The artist is especially enchanted by the concentrated looks of the dancers, their absorption into their work and complete dedication.
