Tõnis Vint is one of the most mysterious Estonian artists. When several of his contemporaries were interested in the primeval Estonian nature and other similar things, then Vint quoted the symbols of different cultural rooms. Therefore all of his creation is very cosmopolitan, as is also his vision of the world. “Unetuul” originates from the period, when Vint mainly concentrated on figural compositions. Figures in his creation are not just components in a composition exercise, but each character has its deeper inner side, with references for instance to antique mythology. The author himself regards “Unetuul” one of his top works of this style. It is really remarkable, how powerful is Vint’s minimalism, rituality, subtlety, exactness and elegance.
