Lembit Saarts
1924 - 2016
Saatuseühtsus (Illustratsioon). 1944
watercolor. vm 25.3 x 16.2 cm
Starting price 640 (sold)
The work by Lembit Saarts is an extremely rare historical document. A very young artist renders to us both the political atmosphere and the spirit which artists had against dictators. Here we can find mockery, irony, superiority of the problems of the period and the ability to look at them with humour. Saarst has simultaneously grasped the complicated nature of the period and also the lightness, with which people faced it. Besides, one should not also ignore these purely painting-related skills that Saarts is expressing here.
