Karl Burman junior’s cup of tea was painting of cityscapes of the old town of Tallinn. Narrow streets, high towers, a few people between them – this is how he painted our old town. Still, he has chosen for the present work a rare perspective. With a wide ankle brush Burman has introduced onto one picture a large amount of different moments and he is looking at the city not from below to the top, but while following the perspective of the horizon. Here the artist has not settled with just a simple touristic view, he is trying to render the atmosphere of the old town and solve purely painting-related questions. This way the red roof in the core of the picture and the St.Olai’s tower above the roofs are enlivening it.
