Elvi Rangell

Hidden Worlds

Elvi Rangell, a well-known Finnish artist with intriguing life choices, is no stranger at Haus Gallery. This exhibition is her third collaborative project.

Elvi started studying art not as a young and hopeful artist, but consciously and at a mature age, leaving behind a career as one of Finland's best-known businesswomen, to dedicate herself to art and to deeply create a world of personal values.

Elvi Rangell's art bears abstract features but is evident with the experience of pure nature and corresponding worldviews. This exhibition has a very specific title “Hidden Worlds” - a phrase that illustrates the real nature of Elvi Rangell's works precisely and clearly. A forest around a body of water, hints of landscapes, and emotional details of a glance that has stopped at one moment or another in one place or another. Large-format and also smaller paintings are veiled both indirectly and directly with trickles of emotion, which grip the viewer for a long and enchanting search into connections between one's own emotional landscapes and experiences and the author's inspirational moments. Paintings that do not reveal themselves here and now, but open up more deeply through the currents of the subconscious mind in each new encounter.

The artist speaks of her exhibition herself: “If you look at the world at large, or nature or people in it, what we grasp is often just a first impression. But when we have the courage and desire to be curious enough and look beyond the surface, deeper, we begin to see the most hidden meanings, secrets unfold, and the charming thing is that we can add our own meanings, interpretations, and perspectives. There are no two people who see the same things hidden in the same way.”

Elvi Rangell's exhibition in Haus Gallery will be open until September 4th, 2021!
