TRICKSTER`S OFFICE

Till April 7 in ArtDepoo gallery opened Peeter Laurits’s exhibition „Trickster’s Office”

Recently Von Krahl theatre put on stage "The End", a performance with Peeter Laurits’s visual. Here it must be mentioned that the current exhibition is a human-faced (namely Peeter Laurits’s face) satellite of the mentioned project. The projects are interrelated but not by the (world’s) end but by the world’s beginning. The End deals both with the creation of the new world as well as the end of the old one, and also in ArtDepoo the main subjects are the creation of the new world, sewing the new sky etc.
Of course – in order to be able to create something new, something else has to end first but at present the artist is not interested in that. Those issues were dealt with in "Deluge", "Dining with Worms" and "Fifth Season" - now the topics are different.

Peeter Laurits:
„The world becomes ragged and wears out as it goes round and round. If patching up is no longer an option, a new world has to be created. The contradictory character called Trickster known from ancient mythologies creates worlds through tricks and confusion. He usually uses most handy materials, be it the shoulder blade of a whale or the shreds of the old world; even sand and dust or a strange syllable may be a good start for a good new world.
The old worlds fade out of existence, leaving behind things to remember, casting some light on the new ones. There are moments, states of mind and hallucinations that remain hovering in the air; the light transforms into a bridge between the old and new worlds.“

artist talk, i.e. meeting with the artist in the cosy atmosphere of traditional gallery evenings will take place on Thursday, April 22 at 5pm with Ragne Nukk, an art scientist and art critic, as the moderator.
