LILIES, LILIES, LILIES ...

Never should be underestimated skilful pencil drawing besides other author techniques. Because of its work amount and uniqueness a drawing may turn out to be a valuable addition to an art collction and a polished jewel into an interior.

Artist Slava Semerikov has gathered during the years international fame both with personal and group exhibitions. His works have received several art prizes and they are expected additions besides Estonia also in foreign galleries and art collections. The artist has had closer co-operation with the art circles of Sweden, Holland, Greece and Japan.

To the exhibition visitor the name of Semerikov may first of all be associated with water-colours and graphic art, more rarely with drawings. With this exposition the artist has made a wonderful present to the viewers, exposing just pencil drawings from the creation of the past years.

The exhibition concentrates in a romantic manner on women and flowers - to an enigmatic unexpected association that at the first glance could seem slightly worn out. Still Slava Semerikov can add to this woman - flower couple relationship that has been compared throughout times, several new nuances.

Female figures of the artist look modest and unpretentious. Their peaceful glances and postures confirm that they exist right here, right now and for the viewer only, fixing the moment, from which starts unexpectedness. After waking up from under a spell a gentle beauty can turn into a powerful Amazon woman or an individualistic Diana. As we can never be sure while looking at an innocent room plant, what colour of blossom and when might grow out of the leaves, as unexpectedly act women and flowers, being depicted on Semerikov\'s works. They gradually open up to the viewers, offering the opening pleasure and inviting to join them in order to glance into a black-and-white world, still possessing the wonders of the world of colours.

The artist himself has approached the comparison of a woman and a blossom in addition to the contextual side from the side of form. An act of soft lines and a flower compete on the Semerikov works with surfaces that have been elaborated with equal thoroughness and luxuriance. Figures, growing and binding as flowers on exotic backgrounds and plants, swaying as figures become personalized on black-and-white backgrounds. Under the eyes of the viewer grow playfully and masterfully beautiful line and beautiful theme.

Exhibition of Slava Semerikov in the Haus Gallery is emotional. The artist has stepped towards us on a misty autumn day, passing us modestly a flower bulb, adding that the colour of the blossom, which would grow out of the bulb would be already our own creation. A glance into the exhibition hall is sufficient for understanding that it is absolutely true.
