On July 11, at 5 p.m. is opened in gallery ARTDEPOO the exhibition of dance improvisation photos by a german professional photographer Thomas Häntzschel. On July 11, at 5 p.m. and on July 20 at 1 p.m. can be seen in the gallery top level dancers, who perform two improvisations.

The general name of the event is “Sümbioos” (“Symbiosis”). In one room is opened the artistic integer through dance, picture and word.


This year in Estonia will be held the annual conference of teachers of contact  improvisation, which is the 20. anniversary of the event. Contact improvisation is one technique of contemporary dance, which is gaining popularity in the whole
world and the history of which dates back to almost 30 years. To the general public the dance world offers contact improvisations, which have been executed by top dancers of such a high level only once a year. The recognised  majority of contact dancers only gathers during annual conferences, which take place in different parts of the world. Main part of the conference in Estonia takes place in  Viljandi. The most well-known dancer at the event is an American lady Nancy Stark-Smith, who is  regarded to be one of the creator of contact improvisation and she is well known in the whole world.
 
Thomas Häntzschel is almost the only photographer in Europe, who has for years been taking photos of contact dancing. His photo exhibition is being accompanied by the existentialist, poetic texts by Martin Keogh, a coreographer and dance instructor, which open the  background of contact improvisation in symbiosis with photos and the dance itself.

Also has been issued the catalogue of the exhibition, where can be seen the majority of the exposed photos and texts.

The photo exhibition is up until August 13 during the opening hours of the gallery,
Tue-Fri 10.00 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sat 11.00 a.m. – 4 p.m.
