The exhibition, curated by Haus Gallery, includes a diverse selection of small-format works created by members of the Estonian Painters’ Association which, due to their practical size are perfect to create ambience at home and work or to be given as gifts. This is a parallel exhibition to the in-house display “30 x 40 TAKE 2” that gives an overview of the latest developments in Estonian painting art and the performance of various techniques on a preset size plane.

The Estonian Painters’ Association, via their creative collective, conveys a bigger message and resonates beyond the capabilities of a single artist. Joint exhibitions attract more attention to the arts as a whole, amplifying their relevance and aspirations. Furthermore, such exhibitions raise a question about what paintings really aspire to achieve and what the broader objective of all those artists who define themselves as professionals in the current world of art is. Artists are sensitive speakers of life who play a distinct role in reflecting society. Art, just as the times, evolves and changes, encompassing the ethics and morale of society, expressing social phenomena in search of forms and means to convey the content that troubles the soul. Joint exhibitions help art, which used to be “heard“ and held in great esteem, gain more of a “voice“.

The requirements applicable to the small format are approached by artists as a platform that enables one to open up the diversity and reserves contained in Estonian paintings holistically and broadly. The individuality of an artist starts to “speak” in the entirety of the domain as a whole; every artist can bring their creative expression to the exhibition at the given moment of time. The artist’s journey is to first of all reach the depths of himself or herself and only then reach out to the world and the audiences that relate to their works. Each participant in the exhibition can define the situation for themselves; shifting the proportions of their usual creative thinking and using unfamiliar ratios is a good challenge that tests one’s creative inventiveness.
