Haus Gallery is to open Siiri Sisask’s painting exhibition “At the Bottom of the Well”. At the opening of the exhibition her new CD “Above the Abyss” with lyrics from Uku Masing and a book of poetry “How I Love this World” will also be presented. This is a genuine triple event that opens the multifaceted persona of Siiri.

Haus Gallery has always loved the symbioses of different areas of art, brought together music and art, organised concerts on top of exhibitions. “In this case we are holding an event where one creator combines three different areas of art: music, poetry and paining,” says head of Haus Gallery, Piia Ausman, about how such self-expression gives a reason to have an insight into the nature of a creative individual. “She is a creator for whom painting is one medium among many through which she can better feel her message and offer the audience a chance to see her world.”

For Sisask, known as a singer and musician, it is the first time to publicly step up in the art arena, although she has held a pencil and brush in her hand before. “As time goes by, I have come to enjoy painting more and more. Already as a child I loved to draw and in primary school I was lucky to have a really good and talented arts teacher who moulded creativity into a really pleasant pastime,” Siiri Sisask describes her road to the world of painting. Painting offers her concentration and peace; she approaches this activity as meditation that increases patience and provokes thoughts on journeys via colours and images. “Painting is a world of dreams.”

Sisask reminisces about how her mother and grandmother too, have always loved to draw and paint, mostly nature and landscapes, but also farm houses and yards. The homes of her ancestors and their favourite motifs have also inspired Sisask in her creation of paintings.
