With the arrival of the new post-communist era in 1991, former Soviet citizens had more and more freedom to apply for a foreign visa and travel across the state border. The cheerful view of nature iridescent from the colours of Evald Okas, an almost impressionistically depicted park in Helsinki, probably conveys the state of mind of many people at the time – liberation and curiosity to watch the real reality of Finnish television with their own eyes. All in all, Evald Okas always seemed to be in the mood for travelling and gathering new impressions. The same can be said of his earlier travel work.
