Boris Ninemäe's decision to paint traditional cooking on a farm in the 1970s and while living abroad carries both a longing for past times and spaces, as well as a desire to document what happened in the past. The artist has brought many elements to the painting and demonstrates the objects necessary for cooking in such a large number that, based on them, one could make an excursion into the history of cooking on the surface of the painting. However, the calm pose of the woman brings a certain calm expectation to the painting, which is quite different from the impatient cooking habit that was already common in the 1970s. A leap into the past is also a desire to gain more time.
