Johannes Saal has not adhered to any official norms in this painting and has created an almost completely abstract work characterized by bursts of color drawn impulsively. It's like a certificate of freedom from some shackles, and it doesn't matter whether these shackles are social or personal. The hall "Landscape" is rarely expressive and stormy, its starting point is not observation or pleasure, but the desire to make visible the inner invisible tension with the help of colors and brushstrokes. Technically, however, it is a bold search, which has an explosive effect in the context of the art of the 1950s.
