The subjects of Peeter Ulas’ graphic sheets were large and large-scale, often even monumental and eternal. This distinguished his work from that of female graphic artists, which was dominated by spirituality, poeticism, and an inner quest for peace. Ränd (Journey) seems to be based on the image of a train carriage, which is nevertheless semi-abstract, and in which strange persons figure. The composition is based on symmetry, and on paper one can distinguish factures, surface treatments, and tonal transitions that create a dynamic overall impression. It is a modern train design from the 1970s, perhaps depicting time travel? In 1984, a book about Peeter Ulas was published by Boris Bernstein, one of the most esteemed art scholars of the time.
