Dedicated to abstract art, Anne Parmasto’s painting Oma aeg (Own Time) speaks the language of colour, and colour in turn speaks the language of blue-black-white – a colour combination so specific to this cultural context. ‘Anne Parmasto is one of the few professional painters in Estonia who dares to risk exhibiting landscapes painted outdoors in top galleries, she dares to be old-fashioned and in doing so occupies a timelessly eternal position,’ writes painter Jaan Elken in the internal media of the University of Tartu about his colleague Anne Parmasto, who has worked as a lecturer at the Chair of Painting at the University of Tartu since 1998.
