Helgi Hirv studied in “Pallas” during the most complicated times, but as the student of Ado Vabbe she still received the tutoring that formed the basis of the Estonian art of the previous century. By her as a graphical artist are mainly known natural motifs or cityscapes, because of what the present work is exceptional. The nude in a mysterious atmosphere, as if having posed in a cellar, carries a strange mood: alluring and romantic, but also mystical and strange. The artist has used the falling light in a skilful manner: this is scanty, but Hirv is directing it to the exactly right places.
