The second Eduard Maaser’s Tartu cityscape is differently from the other one the already “complete” Tartu, there are no ruins anymore (even though the Jaani church does not have its tower yet) and the optimism is further emphasized by the lush and vibrant nature. The colours are sharp like during midday and the light is clear. The artist has undoubtedly been happy. He has chosen a watch platform, where could be seen at least glimpses of the buildings Tartu is recognized about. We can see the Peeter and Jaan churches, roof of the main building of the university, etc. But again Maaser is not after documented correctness, giving this way a large part of the picture room to the nature, not being characteristic to a city. Park and houses form for him his hometown, its heart which to be attached to.
