Olev Subbi has in a sense taken to perfection one of the main approaches to art. His creation is personal, thinking mainly of beauty and perfect painting technique. Still-lives are not very frequent in his creation, but some works are still accomplished in mid-1990ies. Problems that Subbi ponders about are eternal: as one of the most colour sensitive artists of Estonia he creates totally unexpected associations, the composition and room-related relations have been thought through in details, the theme of the painting (wine, lovely interior, etc) tell on the other hand of the primary importance and necessity of aesthetic pleasures.
