Textile artists Merle Suurkask and Einike Soosaar, who have
graduated from the Estonian Art Academy, have created a new trade mark of
design textiles that is meant for a person, who values ecological way of
thinking, high quality , professional design, cosyness and
personality. |
|
Ideology and conception of the designers at creation of
the interior textiles is well illustrated by the exhibition \"The Room
Magic\", consisting of 8 carpets, that is openend on October 29 in the Haus
Gallery. |
|
Textile - being close to the body and home - carries in
itself a message of longing for security, closeness, touching. Miniature
wall tapestries, being exposed at the exhibition, depict rooms, where the
time has stopped. |
|
These are like flashbacks of memory pictures, the story
following them is different in each case because of the influence of the
personal experience of each viewer. To each story telling room picture
belongs as a \"flying carpet\" a real, touchable wall carpet. The imaginary
changes into reality and vice versa. |
|
Proceeding from the essential idea of interior textiles - to
offer integral solutions, also this current exhibition is an ensemble, all
elements of which - the material, format, colour harmony and installing
method have been chosen according to the principle of creating the
integer. |
|
Designers of the \"Magic Textile\" want to create
emotional objects which also touch the soul. Because of that all the
textiles are hand-made and in the human format. One should not expect from
the \"Magic Textile\" large floor covers or only decorative details, but
rather items that create in the room subtle accents and sensual mood.
Floor, bed, window, pillow or table covers of simple design, being made of
natural materials, are especially effective while one is near them,
essential is to feel the softness and to smell the scent of lamb wool, the
harshness of yarns of the texture. |
|
On such a carpet it is lovely to sit together with friends
in front of a fireplace or while being on one\'s own to practice yoga. Even
though the studio of the \"Magic Textile\" is located in the centre of
Tallinn, in a former production facility, the artists themselves live
outside the city. Harmony and peace of the nature and slower rhythm of
life has also influenced the designed
items. |
