Expression of painting

Juozas Pranckevičius was born on October the 26th in 1952 in Vilnius.
Since 1986 the painter has participated in various exhibitions. He belongs to the individualists’ painters’ group. In 2007 J. Pranckevičius was granted a status of an art creator. In 2009 he became a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union.

In Vilnius Europa City hotel the painter has established a gallery called Juozas Art, where for already four years painting exhibitions have been organised and over forty most well-known painters of Lithuania have participated.
Juozas Pranckevičius has organised 10 personal exhibitions, participated in more than 20 group exhibitions. His works have been purchased both by Lithuanian as well as by foreign art admirers.

It wouldn’t be a mistake to state that Juozas Pranckevičius is one of the most creative and industrious Lithuanian artists. Constantly organised personal exhibitions, participation in group events and what is more important, the paintings themselves are good evidence of that.
Probably, not a day passes without a painting composition (complete study, analytical sketch or etude). A huge diary of painted images and colouristic chronics is created.
The greatest passion of the painter is landscape. Not only the landscapes of Lithuania, but also of other places of the world (they range from Birštonas at the time of a golden autumn to cold wild Island; they move from a cool climate zone to a warmer one and vice versa).

What is that Juozas Pranckevičius is especially curious about? The change of the light and the colour, distinct features of local colouring. These tasks are strived to be resolved by the artist (who is working in the manner of a true impressionistic pleinair) in the most quickly and in the most determined way (because the nature changes even more rapidly than the most dynamic human being does).
The motive is just faced and the canvas is simply placed, and then there begin touches, pats and strokes of the paint brush. The strokes are pure and may be viewed even with the naked eye.

The spectator’s consciousness may easily restore the entire process of painting – the construction of the image of purified or nuanced colouristic areas and spots.
All this is being done by the artist for the purpose of fixing the substantial mood of the viewed landscape, which is natural or slightly urbanised (even in such a case the nature –earth, water, sky – dominates).

In the creation of the recent years J. Pranckevičius strives to stop a moment and to give it a feeling of versatility. This is done by abstracting the nature and by restricting himself to the tune of colour spots and to the constructive structure of strokes.  However, the painter nevertheless remains expressive.
Thus, all of you, who would like to see how rapidly and courageously it is possible to register amazingly quickly changing moods and colours that hide behind them, to satisfy the curiosity of how quickly the creations of the artist change, we invite you to visit the exhibition of Juozas Pranckevičius’s works of painting, organised in Vilnius’s division of the social insurance.
